This series is run in conjunction with the British Irish Chamber of Commerce. The next dinner will take place on Thursday 18th May.
Marie O’Connor is a partner with PwC and was the first woman to be promoted to this role. Following her admission as partner, Marie’s key role at PwC was audit partner, specialising in inward investment from America. On the establishment of the IFSC, Marie was asked to oversee the funds practice. Over a 12-year period, leading that practice, PwC in Ireland made a huge contribution to the development of the funds industry. It became the leading audit firm to the asset management organisations whose funds are administered in Ireland.
Marie was appointed to the board of the Children’s Hospital in Temple Street and chaired their Finance Committee through a difficult time for financing hospitals. Other governmental appointments since have included the College of Art, Irish Life, IDA Ireland, the Top Level Appointments Committee, and the Dublin Airport Authority.
She also sits on boards in the not-for-profit sector such as the board of the ESRI , the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, the Archdiocese of Dublin Finance Committee, and the Business School at DCU, to name a few.
She has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Ireland-US Council since its inception here in Dublin over 20 years ago and, currently, she is on the fund-raising committee for the Irish Cancer Society. She recently joined the Advisory Board to the President of UCD and, for the last two years, she has lead the 30% Club in Ireland, which is a global group of chairs committed to accelerating gender balance in their organisations through voluntary means.
