CEOs and Senior Executives from numerous sectors including agri-business, financial services, IT, legal services, retail, marketing and PR, health, and HR attended the Listening to Leaders Dinner on Thursday 18thMay.
The speaker, Marie O’Connor, gave a fascinating insight into her career. She recounted her education and her rise through the ranks at PwC to partner; the first woman at the company to reach this position. Her work for PwC in developing the financial services offering was most impressive. She managed the funds practice from a small operation within PwC, and made it the leading audit firm to the assets management organisations whose funds are administered in Ireland.
Her vast experience has made her an obvious choice for many non-executive board positions in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. These include IDA Ireland, the Dublin Airport Authority, Irish Life, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, the Irish Cancer Society, and the Advisory Board to the President of UCD, to name a few.
Following the dinner Marie took questions from guests. The audience were particularly interested to know more about Marie’s role as Country Lead for the 30% Club in Ireland. The Club is made up of CEOs and Senior Executives who have committed to accelerating gender balance in their organisations through voluntary means. The insight and drive that Marie has provided to this cause was most apparent in her presentation.
