In June Pathfinder held a charity Art exhibition in the RDS Minerva Suite to raise funds for the Children of the Belvedere Youth Club in Buckingham Street, Dublin and for the Children of Bhaktapur, in Nepal.
It was a successful and entertaining evening and the last of the funds raised have now reached our beneficiaries, the children of Bhaktapur in Nepal. Over 100 guests and friends attended and purchased the works of art painted by our own Tom Byrne and his Art circle Colleagues in support of the charities.
Pathfinder were delighted to support this Event.
Tom Byrne and Aoife Lucey are respectively involved with these charities, Tom as a Board member of the Belvedere Youth Club. The club was originally established 100 years ago by the past pupils of Belvedere College as the “Belvedere Newsboys Club” to assist the newsboys of Dublin city. It now supports a club of over 400 local children in Dublin’s Inner City.
Aoife has spent time working with the people of Bhaktapur in Nepal where the devastating earthquake of 2015 has left so many destitute. The funds raised for Nepal went to provide warm clothes and uniforms for the children and the photos show the formal presentation that took place recently.
The following is the note received from the School:
Sarjani Joshi, Principal at Vidyarthi Niketan school in Bhaktapur, Nepal would like to heartily thank Pathfinder on behalf of all the students, their parents and teachers for the precious funds donated. The life shattering earthquakes in Nepal in 2015, left this small city of Bhaktapur simply devastated with over 13,000 homes destroyed and many lives lost. The strong people of Bhaktapur have been fighting hard over the past 20 months to restart their lives and Pathfinder were delighted to help by supporting this local school with a donation to fund warm uniforms for the children.
Well done Aoife! and thanks again to all our friends who supported the Art Event.
